Metal Forming

Metal Rolling
Metal rolling is under metal forming, where the material or metal stock is fed through a sheet metal roller to manipulate its thickness. The goal is to reduce its thickness and make it uniform for easier processing, but it also increases its strength and durability.
There are two main types of rolling: hot rolling and cold rolling. The differences between the two are as follows:
- Hot rolling refers to steel rolled at high temperatures that prevent the metal’s recrystallization.
- Cold rolling refers to hot-rolled steel that has been processed again using cold-reduction materials.
- Cold-rolled steel has a wide range of surface finishes and is tougher by up to 20% compared to hot rolling.
- Hot rolling produces a larger radius, while cold rolling has a smaller radius.
